WHAT ARE ESSENTIAL OILS

I'm sure by now you've seen essential oils popping up everywhere. Your social feed is full of them, your friend is sharing about them and maybe even that health influencer... So what are they, really?

Essential oils are exactly what the name suggests: oils. But not just any oils. They are the concentrated essence of a plant - its natural “life force.” When plants are grown in the right environment, harvested at their peak, and distilled with care, they produce powerful aromatic compounds that can support the body’s natural balance and wellbeing.

These oils are made up of tiny molecules that the body can recognize and use quickly. Because they’re so small, they can be absorbed through the skin and inhaled through the air, allowing them to move through the body within minutes. It’s one of the reasons they feel so immediate and impactful.

But here’s the important part: not all essential oils are created equal.

Many products on the market carry labels like “100% pure,” yet still contain synthetic ingredients, fillers, or oils that aren’t safe for all forms of use. That’s why quality matters so much. Young Living stands apart because of their Seed to Seal commitment, meaning they oversee the entire process from planting and growing to harvesting, distilling, and testing. They own their farms, work with tightly regulated partner farms, and carefully vet their suppliers so you know exactly what you’re using and where it came from.

There are three main ways to use essential oils: topically, aromatically, and internally.

TOPICALLY

Essential oils can be applied directly to the skin. Some oils should be diluted with a carrier oil like coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, or Young Living’s V-6 oil, while others can be used “neat” (undiluted). Always check the label first. Applying oils to the bottoms of your feet is a gentle and effective way to introduce them into your body. They can also be worn as a natural perfume and used to support your mood and emotions.

AROMATICALLY

This is one of the fastest ways to experience the benefits of essential oils. You can inhale them straight from the bottle or diffuse them into the air. Diffusing not only supports your body and emotions, but also transforms the atmosphere of your home. It’s wellness and ambiance in one.

INTERNALLY

Thanks to Young Living’s Seed to Seal standards, some oils are safe for internal use as dietary supplements. These are clearly labeled in the Vitality line. They can be added to water, food, or taken in a capsule, offering another powerful way to support the body from within. Essential oils aren’t just a trend. When sourced with integrity and used intentionally, they become a simple, beautiful way to support everyday wellness in your home.
